Sure Shots: Nicholas Sparks; Hailee Steinfeld; Jennifer Hudson joins The Three Stooges

* Just how many friggin' books did this Nicholas Sparks guy write??? I mean they all look and sound the same and are all generally miserable....ok, except The Notebook...but when will these adaptations end? Another one lurks right around the corner, as Deadline reports that Lasse Hallstrom will direct Safe Haven, based on Sparks' 2010 novel about a woman with a dark secret who falls into two unexpected relationships.  Dana Stevens has already cranked out a script, and Relativity is set to shoot this thing with the quickness, with a June 1st 2012 release date set. Hallstrom recently helmed Dear John, based on another of Sparks' novels. That film went on to gross an unexpected $100M +.

* Grist for the rumor mill. Cinemablend passes along a rumor that Hailee Steinfeld, still looking for that next big post-True Grit project, may be in line to headline the remake of Stephen King's Carrie. Exactly what the level of interest is at this point is unknown, and it's possible the makers of the film just have her on their wishlist.

* Out of all the things Jennifer Hudson has done since she sparkled so greatly in Dreamgirls, what I like best are her Weight Watchers TV spots. That's not saying much considering her two major film roles were Sex and the City and the awful The Secret Life of Bees. But her next move could prove to be her most interesting and certainly the funniest, as Deadline reports she will play Sister Rosemary in The Farrelly Brothers film on The Three Stooges. She joins a left field cast that includes Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Stephen Collins, Sofia Vergara, and Chris Diamantopoulos.
