Joan Allen and Albert Finney return for The Bourne Legacy
The idea of doing a fourth Jason Bourne film without Matt Damon or Jason Bourne is a scary one for fans of mature spy thrillers. Although Tony Gilroy has been involved in all three films, and he's setting this one in the same world as before, there's the fear of it being too vastly different. Well now there's a little less need for worry, as Joan Allen and Albert Finney are set to reprise their previous roles as part of The Bourne Legacy.
Joan Allen returns as Pamela Landy, CIA Deputy Director whose reasons for wanting to track down Bourne are shrouded in secret. Albert Finney is Dr. Albert Hirsch, the man who spearheaded Operation Treadstone's behavioral modification program, basically creating the entire Bourne persona.
How they fit into this new story is anybody's guess, but the obvious leap to make is that Treadstone isn't as dead as it may have appeared at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum. They join a cast that includes Jeremy Renner, Ed Norton, Oscar Isaac, and Rachel Weisz. Now if only they'd bring back Julia Stiles. [Variety]
