Sure Shots: Spike Lee; The Blair Witch Project 3; Jay & Seth Vs. Apocalypse
* Even though details remain terribly slim on Spike Lee's upcoming film, Red Hook Summer, he seems ready to tell us when we'll get a chance to see it. The director took to Twitter and posted a "poster" of himself next to a painted sign stating that Red Hook Summer will be "Burning Up Da Summer 2012!". So...summer 2012 I'm guessing? For those who forgot, Red Hook Summer is Lee's follow-up to Do the Right Thing, in which he'll reprise his role as Mookie from that seminal 1989 film. It will follow an Atlanta native who spends a summer in the titular neighborhood.
* Has anybody...and I mean ANYBODY...been asking for a Blair Witch Project 3? Aren't there enough "found footage" horrors that have bombed that we don't need to add one more? Eduardo Sanchez, co-creator of that great(and legit scary in my opinion) film has been talking another sequel for years, and now he says the decision is in Lionsgate's hands for now. The plan would be to have the original three actors involved in some way, and would have nothing to do with the abysmal sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. I hope this movie never happens. I love the original film, but it's time has come and gone.
* James Franco and Jonah Hill will be appearing as themselves in Jay & Seth vs. Apocalypse, the big screen version of the hit short film starring Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel. In fact, everybody will be playing themselves in the hilarious sounding story about a bunch of friends holed up in a cabin while the apocalypse rages outside. It's not long before they realize they can't stand being stuck together and things start turning pretty ugly. As revealed last week, shooting should begin early next year.
