I feel sorta bad that the wonderful ensemble comedy, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, was so ignored by critics and given such a piss poor roll out. It was easily one of the best R-rated comedies in a year that's been stacked with them, and the performances by all involved were on point. That goes for co-star Will Forte as well, hilarious as Lucy Punch's husband who desperately wants to be included in the sexual shenanigans. The SNL funnyman is probably still reeling a little bit from the savaging received by the last major film he headlined, MacGruber. That hasn't stopped him from landing a high profile role in the 80s jukebox musical, Rock of Ages, and now he'll get a chance to star in Neighborhood Watch, alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.
Forte will play Sergeant Bressman, which if you can imagine Forte as a military guy of any kind it should already tell you this is a pretty outlandish comedy. The story centers around a group of men who join the neighborhood watch program as an excuse for some free time away from their wives, but stumble upon conspiracy that threatens the entire planet. Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, Rosemarie Dewitt, and Nicholas Braun co-star. SNL veteran writer Akiva Schaffer is directing, with the film expected to land some time in 2012. [THR]
