There's little doubt that Lionsgate is expecting a Twilight-level storm of attention when The Hunger Games finally hits on March 23rd. Directed by Gary Ross, the film is based on the first novel in Suzanne Collins' crazy popular trilogy following Katniss Everdeen(Jennifer Lawrence) and her attempt to survive an annual fight to the death against 23 of her peers. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's the gist of it. Whatever you do, don't let anyone tell you it's just like Battle Royale. Nobody loves Battle Royale than me, but The Hunger Games is a totally different animal.
While we've seen plenty of (dull) photos, mostly of Katniss and the two men who love her, Peeta Mellark(Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne(Liam Hemsworth), I've been anxiously awaiting a glimpse at how some of the more dolled up characters would appear. And now we've got that chance as Lionsgate has released a bunch of new character posters, featuring first looks at Haymitch Abernathy(Woody Harrelson), and the flamboyant Effie Trinkett(Elizabeth Banks). Also snagging their own side profiles are Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Rue(Amandla Stenberg), Cato(Alexander Ludwig), and Cinna(Lenny Kravitz). Check 'em out all out below....
