Sure Shots: Oliver Stone; Anne Hathaway; Martin Scorsese

* If you ever want to read a book that without a shadow of a doubt destroyed a powerful man's reputation, then you want to check out Robert Caro's 1974 Pulitzer prize winning biography, The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York. Moses, a renowned but controversial master builder and planner, is largely responsible for shape and look of today's New York City. Moses had his share of detractors, mostly for his political maneuverings(and causing the Brooklyn Dodgers to leave town), and lack of concern for tradition. Sounds like the perfect guy to have a biopic of his life done up by Oliver Stone, who will an adaptation of Caro's book for HBO. Nicholas Meyer(The Human Stain) will pen the script. [THR]

* Anne Hathaway, just recently locked for Tom Hooper's Les Miserables, will produce and star in Puzzler, a paranoia thriller described as being similar to the great Three Days of the Condor. There's just one problem, the script comes courtesy of Karl Gajdusek, writer of the disastrous home invasion thriller, Trespass, starring Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman. Red flag!!! [THR]

* More thrillers out of Norway? Somebody in Hollywood must be buyin' em by the gross. Only this time the potential director is coming straight outta left field. Martin Scorsese is in early talks to helm The Snowman, the seventh crime novel from Jo Nesbo to feature hard nosed Oslo detective, Harry Hole. This may be the next project on Scorsese's list, which means all those other films(The Gambler, Furious Love) may get bumped or flat out killed. Matthew Michael Carnahan(World War Z) will handle the script. [Variety]
