Harmony Korine casts his wife Rachel in Spring Breakers

It's become common practice for filmmakers to cast their significant others in their movies. Ben Stiller regularly casts Christine Taylor. Paul W. S. Anderson and Milla Jojovich basically have a symbiotic relationship. She'd be a lesser actress without his Resident Evil(and Three Musketeers) flicks, and he'd be less popular of a director. It works, so why stop a good thing? Now Harmoney Korine(Kids) is getting into the nepotism game by casting his wife, Rachel, in his crazy sounding crime flick, Spring Breakers.

Did the insane cast she becomes the least recognizable part of: James Franco, Selena Gomez, Emma Roberts, and Vanessa Hudgens in a story about four college girls who rob a fast food joint to score loot for their regular spring break trip. Only they get caught and sent to the pokey, only to have a fast talkin', rappin' drug dealer bail them out and convince them to kill his rival. The rappin' drug dealer? That'd be Franco.

I've only seen Rachel in action once, as Red Riding Hood in her husband's film, Mr. Lonely. Mainly she's been modeling and taking on smaller roles, so this could be a big move for her. Spring Breakers will film next spring break for a hopeful release sometime next year. [Variety]
