New image from John Carter reveals one monstrous enemy

After a messy, incomprehensible teaser trailer released back in July, it's been relatively quiet on the John Carter front. Fortunately for Disney, the amazing special effects and style seem to capture the epic scope of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novels, even if what we saw didn't make a whole lot of sense. The Mouse House is taking a big gamble on the film, putting the unproven Taylor Kitsch in the title role, banking on the young heartthrob to help recoup the reported $200M+ production budget. It doesn't hurt having Pixar vet, Andrew Stanton(Wall-E) behind the camera.

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, they have a new image from the film, giving us a glimpse of one of the monstrous creatures Carter will be squaring off against. Fortunately, Carter's competition at the box office should be fairly easy the week of March 9th, with only The Raven, Silent House, and the bland soccer mom comedy Playing the Field posing any real threat.
