Trailer Time: Haywire, directed by Steven Soderbergh

When I think of Steven Soderbergh, high octane vengeance flicks aren't the first thing that comes to mind. But then he's shown remarkable skill at a number of different genres, so why should things be any different with Haywire? We've seen one trailer for the film already, centered around MMA star Gina Carano as a black ops agent looking for revenge after she's double crossed by her superiors. One of the things I dig about Soderbergh is he's not afraid to take those who have been successful in other avenues, such as Sasha Grey in The Girlfriend Experience, and put them in flicks that play to their strengths. Carano has the upper hand here, though, as she's surrounded by a cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, and Michael Douglas. Talk about a baptism by fire.

The latest trailer is all about the action, as agent Mallory Kane(Carano) beats the stuffing out of Fassbender's character. The fighting is dirty and ugly, similar in a lot of ways to how it's portrayed in The Bourne Trilogy. Haywire will open on January 20th 2012....
