1st look at Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

It may seem crazy, but three franchises(possibly four) aren't nearly enough for Jeremy Renner. Let's see...he's got The Avengers....Mission: Impossible....oh, and The Bourne Legacy. And let's not forget that his Hawkeye character could be spun off into his own series at any time.  No, the guy just isn't busy enough, so he's got one more in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola(Dead Snow), and produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, the film features Renner and Gemma Arterton(Quantum of Solace) as the two folk tale icons all grown up, armed to the teeth with some badass weapons, and taking their knack for offing witches to a whole new level. Instead of pushing the old hags into ovens, they'll probably get roasted by a flamethrower or something.

Arterton sounds pretty excited about it, and revealed that we will revisit the duo's first adventure chronicled in the Brothers Grimm story...

Arterton: "You see a series of flashbacks with their experience of killing that first witch, which is brilliant... The heart of it is that these kids grow up to be bloodthirsty witch hunters."

"It’s also very, very dark, and bloodthirsty and there’s a lot of cursing. It’s kind of got a [Quentin] Tarantino feel, really,"

Expect his one to be pretty campy, mainly because that seems to be Wirkola's style(Dead Snow is gory and cheesy as heck), but also because of the March  2nd release date, which tends to be a dumping ground for easy action flicks.

Look for a trailer to be released some time next week. [EW]
