'The Descendants' writers land Kristen Wiig for their untitled action comedy

This past Sunday's Academy Awards proved to be one hell of a night for writers Jim Rash and Nat Faxon, with the duo winning the Best Adapted Screenplay award for The Descendants(the film should've won more, dammit!!). Plus, their striking leg pose making fun of Angelina Jolie has become an instant internet meme. It doesn't get much better than that, and they're doing what every Oscar winner should do by using their newfound clout to get other projects off the ground.

Variety reports they've just sold a script for an untitled action comedy, which would normally be big enough news. However it's only made better by the fact that Kristen Wiig is attached to star, although plot details right now are unknown. Wiig is coming off a loss in the Best Original Screenplay category for her Bridesmaids script, co-written by Annie Mumolo. Faxon and Rash no doubt used their history working with Wiig as part of The Groundlings comedy troupe to get her on board. Faxon and Rash are set to make their directorial debuts with The Way, Way Back, a coming of age story starring Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney. Jake Gyllenhaal was once in talks to star.

Wiig will be seen next week with many of her Bridesmaids colleagues in the adult comedy, Friends With Kids.
