Leslie Mann, Israel Broussard and a host of newcomers join Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring'

Sofia Coppola isn't wasting any time casting up her next film centered on Hollywood excess, The Bling Ring. With Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga already in place, Coppola is adding not only a veteran comedic presence, but also a handful of newcomers getting their big break.

Leslie Mann(Knocked Up), aka Mrs. Judd Apatow is the latest to join the film based on the true story of a bunch of teens known as the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch aka The Bling Ring who robbed the homes of wealthy celebrities. Mann will play the mother of two of the girls in the group, probably Alexis and Gabrielle Neiers. Continuing her trend of hyping undiscovered talent, Coppola has cast Israel Broussard(Flipped, The Chaperone) as the male lead. Katie Chang, Claire Pfister and Georgia Rock will be making their feature film debuts.

Filming will begin in the spring, so it's unlikely we'll see it by the end of the year. I hate to see it end up in early 2013 as it will be forgotten come awards season, but we'll just have to wait and see. The addition of Mann makes me think this may be more of a comedy or satire than originally thought. [THR]
