Trailer Time: 'Rurouni Kenshin', directed by Keishi Otomo
There's reason for optimism when it comes to Rurouni Kenshin, the live-action adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga series directed by Keishi Otomo. The plan is for the film to have a global roll out, translated into as many as four different languages, meaning we will almost certainly get some sort of run here in the United States. Good news, not only because I'm a sucker for Japanese sword 'n honor tales, but because this one looks especially good.
The story follows Himura Kenshin, a veteran of the Bakumatsu wars now turned wandering assassin, protecting the people of Japan. Staying at the dojo of a young woman named Kaoru Kamiya(Emi Takei), Kenshin must protect Tokyo from enemies new and old. Due out in theaters on August 25th, we'll hopefully see it soon after.
