Robert Rodriguez to direct 'Fire and Ice' remake right after 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For'

Robert Rodriguez continues to be one of the busiest film makers in Hollywood. Whether he's behind the camera or producing a film like Predators, he's always got something lined up. This year he seems to have possessed by the spirit of Takashi Miike(who is still alive, by the way), as he's got three projects set to shoot one right after the other. No rest for the weary.

With Machete Kills set to start anytime now, Rodriguez will then go directly into Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. After that, Rodriguez will jump into Fire and Ice, a remake of 1983s animated film directed by Ralph Bakshi and featuring designs from comic book artist, Frank Frazetta. The script came from legendary comics scribes, Gerry Conway and Roy Thomas, both having been writers on the Conan comic book. Rodriguez first announced the project a couple of Comic-Cons ago, now telling THR...

Rodriguez: "That’s in the works to go right into after 'Sin City,' Frank Frazetta’s 'Fire and Ice. We’re almost done with the script, we’ve got it pretty much 70 percent there — I’m really excited about that one. I think the timing is going to work out just right and we’ll have a finished script in the next month or so. So that we can start lengthier pre-production and we can go right into pre-production – well, we’re actually in pre-production, sort of, or we’ve been doing a lot of the previsualization. But that would be the next thing after 'Sin City.'"

It should be an easy transition, as Rodriguez plans to use a similar style as he's employing for Sin City to replicate Frazetta's visual look. The original used a version of rotoscoping, which was highly successful at the time and continues to be used in a more advanced way today in movies like Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.
