Sure Shots: Nicole Kidman; Morgan Spurlock; 'Paranormal Activity'

* A few years ago I would've said that Nicole Kidman was the perfect choice to play the gorgeous Grace Kelly, but lately? Um, no. How about Naomi Watts instead?  Whatever, my complaints will fall on deaf ears, as Variety reports Kidman is in talks to play her in Grace of Monaco, a film we first learned about last year. Based on a Black List script by Arash Amel, the story covers a year long period in Princess Grace's life when she played a part in helping stop a French coup in Monaco over its status as a tax haven. Exciting stuff, eh? >yawn<  If this all comes to pass, Kidman could be looking at yet another Best Actress nomination, and with Oliver Dahan directing it's all but a certainty. Dahan helped take Marion Cotillard to her Best Actress victory for her performance in La Vie en Rose.

* Morgan Spurlock has spent the bulk of his career, ever since Super Size Me, making documentary films that are both insightful and entertaining. It's not as easy as you may think. For awhile now he's been talking up his first narrative feature, which as you would expect is described as being similar to Erin Brockovich or Thank You for Smoking. While talking to Slashfilm he confirmed that the film is green lit and has secured financing. He also revealed that two major actors are in place and that rewrites on the script are taking place, with filming possibly to begin this summer. Spurlock is, at least in my mind, the best documentarian around(sorry Michael Moore and Werner Herzog!) and I'm curious to see what he can bring to a project like this. His next film, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope, is great(review this Friday)and opens here in DC on April 13th.

* Oren Peli, Jason Blum and Christopher Landon are taking their horror hit Paranormal Activity and gearing it towards the Latino community with an untitled spinoff. The film will feature an all Latino cast, but won't be in Spanish, and will deal primarily with supernatural mythology based on the Catholic faith. As usual, the micro-budgeted film should shoot fairly quickly, possibly hitting theaters as early as next January.  A Japanese geared semi-sequel, Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night, was released back in 2010.
