Woody Allen picks the foreign land of San Francisco to shoot his next film

For months, there's been speculation as to where Woody Allen would be shooting his next film. The legendary director has found new energy taking his work abroad, forgoing his usual New York haunts for Italy, Paris, and other foreign locales. Munich and Copenhagen were named as the two most likely destinations, but instead Allen has revealed he's chosen to shoot in...wait for it.....San Francisco. Whomp whomp.

Allen hasn't shot a film in the US. since 2009's Whatever Works, and frankly I'd be happy to give that piece of crap to any other country that wants it. While in Italy for the premier of his latest effort, To Rome with Love, Allen dismissed that Copenhagen was ever an option, stating that San Francisco will be the spot for the majority of the next movie's shoot, although a little will be done in his native New York.

We still don't know what it will be about, but that's par for the course. Most recently, Allen was said to be looking at Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett to star. [Variety]
