1st look at Chadwick Boseman and Nicole Beharie in Jackie Robinson biopic, '42'
The name Chadwick Boseman may not be on the tip of everybody's tongue just yet, but there's no better way to change that than to play a famous, barrier breaking historical figure. Boseman briefly appeared in one well-received sports drama about a color barrier shattering player in The Express, and now he's set to lead his own by playing Jackie Robinson in Brian Helgeland's biopic, 42.
Filming is currently underway on the film, and we're starting to get our first looks at Boseman and co-star Nicole Beharie(Shame) as Robinson's wife. The story will follow Robinson's career from his time in the Negro Leagues to when Brooklyn Dodgers exec, Branch Rickey, played by Harrison Ford, called him up to the Major League squad in 1947. One of the images appears to be set when Robinson was still a part of the Dodgers farm club in Montreal. And if you're confused by all those rather freaky looking mannequins with the rubber faces, well a production like this has to save money somehow. Lucas Black, Christopher Meloni, Jon Bernthal, and John C. McGinley co-star. Check out the rest of the images below...[The Birmingham News via ThePlaylist]
