Olivier Megaton to direct vengeance thriller, 'Land of the Living'

The awesomely named Olivier Megaton has been joined at the hip with Luc Besson for much of his career. If you'll recall, it was Megaon who was initially the choice to direct Mathilda, the long hoped for, likely never to be seen sequel to 1994's The Professional. Megaton has taken the ball and run with it, directing Zoe Saldana in Colombiana last year, and just recently wrapping up filming on Taken 2.

For his latest effort, Megaton is venturing away from Besson for the first time since 2002's The Red Siren. He'll direct Land of the Living, an indie thriller about a young ad exec named Abbie Devereaux who is kidnapped on the L.A. streets. Managing to escape without the aid of police, she of course comes back looking for some bloody payback. The film is based on the novel by Nicci French, the pseudonym for husband and wife authors, Nicci Gerard and Sean French.

Filming is set to being next January. Maybe with Zoe Saldana back to kick more ass?
