Trailer Time: 'Starry Starry Night', directed by Tom Lin

Vincent Van Gogh's seminal painting, Starry Night, forms much of the backdrop for the most imaginative trailer I've seen all year. Starry Starry Night is a Taiwanese film from director Tom Lin(Winds of September), and is based on Jimmy Liao's cherished novel about a 13 year old girl named Mei, who escapes to a fantastical world of her own making when overwhelmed by the problems at home. She's accompanied by an introverted boy who is new to her town, and the two run off to find a rare moment of pure happiness.

Capturing the surreal look of Laio's novel, this trailer is simply a gorgeous, visual feast for the eyes . Lin refers to the book as one of his personal favorites, and clearly he went into loving detail to make sure the film was a true representation. I'm just sorta awe struck right now, with the score sweeping around in my head. Starry Starry Night will open in New York City on July 6th, and hopefully it does well enough to expand further...
