With Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Chris Cooper set for John Wells' adaptation of August: Osage County, it looks like one role we thought was filled is still in some question. A few days ago we learned that Andrea Riseborough(W.E.) was up for the role of Karen, the youngest of the Weston siblings. Now Deadline reports Juliette Lewis has entered negotiations for the part.
If Lewis does take over the part, she'll be joined by Abigail Breslin, who has just agreed to play the angry 14-year old pot smoking daughter to Roberts' character. The film is based on the award-winning stageplay by Tracy Letts, and follows the estranged Weston sisters who return home to their hard-drinking mother(Streep) when a family tragedy occurs.
Not the type of film I usually get excited over, but so far Wells is putting together a cast that is too good to ignore. I love Juliette Lewis and Abigail Breslin, while struggling a bit lately, is a proven strong actress who can only make this movie better. There's a reason why George Clooney and Grant Heslov are backing this as producers.
