Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke head into 'Overdrive'; Karl Urban out
This is sort of a banner day for Sam Claflin, with two stories on the actor in the span of just a few hours. Nice work, boring random dude. Not only is he up for the sought-after role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but now he's replacing Ben Barnes in the action thriller, Overdrive.
There are some serious changes afoot for the film, and the addition of Claflin is just a part of it. At one point, names such as Alex Pettyfer, Garrett Hedlund, and Matthew Goode were attached before settling on the combination of Karl Urban and Barnes. Barnes is out, with Claflin stepping in, but Comingsoon also reports that Urban has moved on. So now it's just Claflin all by his lonesome. Emilia Clarke(Game of Thrones) has now also been confirmed, after having been in talks since late last year.
So what's the film about? Written by the duo of Derek Haas and Michael Brandt(Wanted), with direction by Antonio Negret, the story follows two adventurous brothers who find a ton of trouble while in the South of France. Pierre Morel(Taken) is on board as producer. Filming begins in Marseilles this summer. [Variety]
