Sure Shots: 'Ouija'; Vince Vaughn; 'Stretch Armstrong'

* We learned back in March that Universal and Hasbro weren't giving up on adapting the cursed board game, Ouija, into a feature film. Once deemed as a major tentpole similar to the failed Battleship experiment, the budget was slashed to a pitiful $5M, with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes producing. The latest move has the Knowing duo of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White coming aboard to direct and rewrite the script. We don't know much about the plot, but you can expect the game's supernatural answers to be at the heart of it. [Variety]

* Vince Vaughn  is stepping away from comedy for his next gig, lining up the action/adventure film, Gunslingers. New Regency recently bought the script from Randall Wallace(Braveheart) for a hefty sum, with Vaughn set to star and co-produce. The early plot sounds a little confusing, but apparently it's set in Los Angeles where "heroic and iconic characters from the past collide with contemporary urban reality". It apparently explores the real meaning of being a hero, but to me it just sounds like old heroes fighting crime in the present, and running into a ton of culture shock in the process. Might be interesting but....eh, we'll see. [Deadline]

* This one is a bit old but it broke while I was away, and whaddaya know, it's another Hasbro toy adaptation. Actually, it's about Stretch Armstrong, the film that was once going to be a major action franchise for Taylor Lautner until cooler heads prevailed on both sides. Relativity picked up the rights from Universal back in January, and have now found a director for it in Breck Eisner(The Crazies). The script is now being written by Dean Gregoraris(The Manchurian Candidate), taking over for Greg Poirier, but we still haven't heard anything about who might star. Maybe we'll luck out and nobody will want to do it? Probably not, since the film already has a release date set for April 11th 2014. [THR]
