* While Kristen Stewart continues her apology tour after having a roll in the hay with Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, questions have started to emerge about the future of the franchise. With David Koepp writing the sequel script, Universal has no plans on changing anything, keeping Sanders aboard to helm the pic and making it the next film on his schedule. As for Stewart, she's now signed on to Lie Down in Darkness, which Scott Cooper(Crazy Heart) took on not long after hitting it big a couple of years ago. Based on William Styron's 1951 novel, Stewart will play Peyton, part of the dysfunctional Loftis family who finds herself always compared to her crippled sister, Maudie. Due to her physical beauty, Peyton also earns the jealous scorn of her mother, and the lecherous attention from her alcoholic father. Jennifer Lawrence had sought the role herself before becoming too busy with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and X-men: Days of Future Past. [Vulture]

* Rapper turned underrated actor Mos Def has joined the cast of Can a Song Save Your Life?, the next film from Once director John Carney. Similar to his unforgetta.comble 2006 hit, it's set in the world of aspiring musicians, and has Keira Knightley as a woman who comes to New York with her boyfriend to launch their careers, only to have him leave her behind. Mark Ruffalo plays the struggling record producer who discovers her singing in a bar. Mos will play one of Ruffalo's colleagues, and joins fellow musicians Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green, adding a touch of authenticity to the film. Hailee Steinfeld, Catherine Keener, and James Corden co-star in the Judd Apatow produced pic. [ThePlaylist]

* In the Canadian version of the hit comedy, Starbuck(my review here), the role of the main character's lawyer is the glue that keeps the whole thing together. So with the American remake on the way, and Vince Vaughn already set for the lead role, it's crucial that the lawyer part be played by someone who hit all the comedic high notes. Fortunately, a smart move has been made with Chris Pratt(Parks and Recreation) coming aboard. He'll buddy up with Vaughn in the story of a middle aged, well-meaning loser who has his life turned upside down when he discovers all those sperm donations he made as a youth led to his having over 550 adult aged children, all of whom wanting to know their father's identity. Ken Scott, who wrote and directed the original, is also taking the reins for the remake. [Variety]
