1st look at crime noir 'Broken City' with Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe
Hey, at least one Hughes Brother can manage to get a film off the ground these days. After spending years working together on great movies such as Menace II Society and The Book of Eli, the duo have ventured into solo territory lately with some mixed results. Poor Albert Hughes struggled with then dropped out of Akira due to casting headaches, and he continues to have a rough time getting Motor City off the ground for much the same reason. His brother Allen on the other hand has completed work on the promising film noir, Broken City, which many are comparing to Chinatown.
Thanks to EW we're getting our first look at the film which stars Russell Crowe, Mark Wahlberg, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Wahlberg, who also serves as a producer, plays a private detective hired by a prominent politician(Crowe) to investigate his wife's(Zeta-Jones) infidelity, only to uncover a much deeper conspiracy. Jeffrey Wright, Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper, and Michael Beach co-star with a release date pegged for January 18th 2013.
