Nicole Kidman goes "mommie dearest' in 1st trailer for Park Chan-Wook's 'Stoker'

"Personally speaking I can't wait to watch life tear you apart". Yikes! And that's a mom speaking to her daughter! After a brief glimpse of Park Chan-Wook's Stoker emerged last week and teased us with just how dark and off-kilter it was going to be, the full trailer is now here and it's everything one could have hoped for. Stylish, spooky, well-acted, and shows off the director's trademark visual style. Do we really have to wait until next year?

Marking the Oldboy director's English-language debut, Stoker stars Mia Wasikowska as India, an eccentric girl dealing with the recent death of her father and the sudden arrival of her mysterious uncle(Matthew Goode), who may also be the cause of a recent rash of disappearances in the neighborhood. Kidman has been making a lot of solid choices lately(The Paperboy excluded!!!), and she seems to really be eating up this chance to do the whole "mommie dearest" thing. Wasikowska is typically impressive in a downbeat sort of way, while Goode finally has that showy leading role he's long deserved. Chan-Wook is the real star here, though, and his gift for creating a palpable sense of mood is in full display. I repeat, do we really have to wait until next year?

Unfortunately we do, so look for Stoker to arrive next year on March 1st 2013....
