Sure Shots: Elizabeth Banks; Adrien Brody; Brit Marling
* Elizabeth Banks has been showing off her comedic chops all year to pretty mixed results. As dreadful as she was in What to Expect When You're Expecting, she was at her snarky best in Pitch Perfect, which she also produced. Next up for her is the lead in Walk of Shame, a comedy following an aspiring Los Angeles TV anchor who goes out for a night of hard drinking after losing out on an audition. Waking up the next day with no memory of the previous night, and with no clothes, car, or cash, she's then notified by her agent that she actually won the audition and must take a city-wide "walk of shame" to retrace her steps and get on the air by 5pm. The film comes from writer/director Steve Brill(Drillbit Taylor). [Variety]
* Paul Haggis is putting the finishing touches on the cast for Third Person, his globe-spanning romance drama which begins filming in just a few days. With Liam Neeson, Olivia Wilde, James Franco, Kim Basinger, and Mila Kunis already aboard, Haggis has now added Adrien Brody and Maria Bello. The film follows three relationships in intersecting stories set in Paris, New York, and Rome. Basinger and Neeson will play one of the couples, but the rest are being kept secret for some reason. * It seems like every week we're learning of a new promising film which Brit Marling(Another Earth) has signed on for. In the last month alone she's agreed to the Terrence Malick-produced The Green Blade Rises, and an adaptation of The Grace that Keeps This World opposite James Franco. Now you can add one more as she and Jack Huston(Factory Girl) have joined the indie dramedy, Posthumous. Written and directed by newcomer Lulu Wang, the film has Huston as a struggling artist whose artwork shoots up in value when he's presumed dead. He keeps up the lie by posing as his own brother, until he becomes friends with a reporter(Marling) who shows him the real value of life and art. [Deadline]
