New posters for 'Trance', 'The Place Beyond the Pines', 'From Up on Poppy Hill'
A smattering of new posters for two films which are due out in March, and one which has just secured a U.S. release date. Let's jump right in...
The first poster is for Danny Boyle's Trance, which has now secured a U.S. date of April 5th. It's a good choice, as the Melissa McCarthy/Sandra Bullock cop comedy The Heat just got bumped from that weekend down to June 28th. So now the only other competition for Trance is Jurassic Park 3D. James McAvoy plays an art auctioneer who along with a gang steal a valuable painting, only to suffer a blow to the head during the heist. Waking up with amnesia, the gang's leader(Vincent Cassel) hires a hypnotherapist(Rosario Dawson) to ascertain the painting's location.
Studio Ghibli and the legendary Hayao Miyazaki bring another animated gem to our shores with From Up On Poppy Hill. Emerging on March 15th then expanding two weeks later, the film is set in 1963 Yokohama and is a tale of young love set against Japan's recovery in the wake of WWII and their preparation for the 1964 Olympics. Christina Hendricks, Gillian Anderson, Ron Howard, Aubrey Plaza, and more lend their voices.
Thanks in part to Bradley Cooper's Oscar hopes, Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond the Pines is slowly building up steam on the way to its March 29th release. Cooper plays a cop who enters into a feud with a stunt racer-turned bank robber played by Ryan Gosling, the likes of which spans generations and ruins numerous lives. Ray Liotta, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, Dane DeHaan, and Ben Mendelsohn co-star.
