It could be a really big day for 9-year old Quvenzhané Wallis. Not only could she be the youngest to ever win Best Actress tonight for her breakout role in Beasts of the Southern Wild, but now she's been confirmed for a major film with some powerful people backing it.
Targeted for the role earlier this month, Wallis has now been confirmed to star in a remake of hit Broadway musical, Annie. The Depression-era tale will be given a modern twist, but I wonder if Wallis will keep Annie's trademark crimson hair? Will Gluck (Easy A) is directing, with Will Smith and Jay-Z producing, so yeah it's got a lot of muscle behind it.
This will be her most accessible film yet, and hopefully what made her so great in 'Beasts' won't be stamped out by Hollywood. There's no release date yet, but Annie is aiming for release in 2014.
