Emily VanCamp takes female lead in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'
For months, a number of names have been circling the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That list included Imogen Poots, Jessica Brown Findlay, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Felicity Jones, Teresa Palmer, Alison Brie, and Emilia Clarke, with different ones said to be the frontrunner at different times. Not among those mentioned was Revenge star Emily VanCamp, but it doesn't seem to have hurt her in the least.
VanCamp has taken the female lead in the upcoming superhero flick, starring opposite Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, and Sebastian Stan. VanCamp first broke out on hit show Everwood, but has made few waves on the big screen. This could obviously change that in a major way. The character she'll be playing hasn't been named, but it's expected to be Cap's love interest and fellow agent, Sharon Carter, the niece to his WWII gal, Peggy Carter(Hayley Atwell, who won't be returning).
So that's one Marvel mystery finally resolved. Directed by the Russo Brothers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier arrives on April 4th 2014. [Deadline]
