Matthias Schoenaerts joins Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in 'Animal Rescue'
He probably could have...ok should have....been nominated for Best Actor for his powerful performance in Rust and Bone, but Matthias Schoenaerts did end up faring well at the César Awards last night where he took home Best Newcomer. Coming off of his incredible turn the year before for Bullhead, Schoenaerts is rejoining that film's director, Michael Roskam, for his upcoming adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Animal Rescue.
ThePlaylist spoke to Schoenaerts who revealed he'll be joining Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in the film, which centers on a lonely bartender in a mob-controlled bar who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog's abusive and unstable former owner. Hardy will take the lead role, with Rapace as the scarred Nadia, but Schoenaerts' role is unclear.
Hardy, Rapace, and Schoenaerts all in one place? Count me in.
