Nicholas Hoult joins Rupert Wyatt's WWI drama, 'Birdsong'
It's going to be near impossible to avoid Nicholas Hoult from now on, and after the first-week success of Warm Bodies, he's getting more offers than ever before. Already on set reprising his role as Beast in X-men: Days of Future Past, and with Jack the Giant Slayer on the way (new trailer here), he's just signed up for the next film by Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt.
It was only a few days ago we learned about Wyatt's WWI drama, Birdsong, and now he's lined up Hoult to be the face of it. He'll play Stephen Wraysford, a soldier who falls in love with a French woman shortly before they are separated by the war. The story details his life before and after the fighting, while also following that of his granddaughter who attempts to learn more about him.
Wyatt also wrote the script, adapted from the first of Sebastian Faulk's trilogy of novels. It's unclear when production will begin, but I'd expect Birdsong to take precedent over Wyatt's other developing projects. [THR]
