Sure Shots: Jessica Alba; Alec Baldwin; Dakota Fanning

* While she's currently donning her cowgirl outfit for Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Jessica Alba is also lining up what comes next. She'll star in Weightless, the directorial debut by Monster's Ball writer Milo Addica. Set in the near future, Alba plays American astronaut Maysie Overall, who leaves the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident, and is then riddled with guilt when she later survives a shuttle crash.

* The last time Stefan Ruzowitzky took on directing a noir crime thriller, he gave us the star-studded but lifeless Deadfall. He'll give the genre another go with Caught Stealing, and he's got Alec Baldwin and Patrick Wilson confirmed to star after being in talks since last September. Based on Charlie Huston's  novel, the first of a trilogy, the story follows Hank Thompson (Wilson), a former baseball prospect turned bartender who gets involved in a crime caper involving Russian mobsters, a Samoan hitman, a pair of psychotic brothers, and a sadistic cop played by Baldwin. David Hayter (X2) will pen the script.

* Dakota Fanning and Danielle MacDonald (The East) have joined Elizabeth Banks and Diane Lane in Every Secret Thing, the crime drama from Amy Berg (West of Memphis) that we learned about last fall. Based on Laura Lippman's acclaimed novel and adapted by Nicole Holofcener (Please Give), the story follows two women who were convicted of killing a baby when they were 11-years old. Upon their release at the age of 18, children start to go missing, drawing the attention of the police and revealing old secrets about the original crime. Fanning and MacDonald will play the two girls, while Lane plays the mother of one, and Banks is the lead officer with a personal investment in the case.
