Vin Diesel sits on his throne in the latest 'Riddick' image
Near the end of 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick, Vin Diesel's titular antihero became the new Lord Marshall of the Necromongers. If none of that makes sense, you might want to revisit that film and Pitch Black before Riddick hits theaters on September 6th. The reason is that it looks to play a major role in the film, at least if this latest image from Diesel's Facebook page is any indication.
The pic shows Riddick on his throne experiencing the loneliness and boredom that comes with leadership. Perhaps it's a motivation that leads to him being stranded on a desolate planet with no hope of escape. Another returning character from the previous film is Vaako (Karl Urban), who has an old score to settle and is part of the mercenaries sent to finish Riddick once and for all.
Franchise director David Twohy is at the helm, with Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, and Jordi Molla co-starring.
