'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' moved to December 2014

Peter Jackson owns your holiday season! The third and final chapter of The Hobbit trilogy, There and Back Again, was meant to open in the summer of 2014, about seven months after the middle film. But now it's getting bumped all the way down to December 17th, making it the third year in a row you'll be able to spend your Christmas with Bilbo Baggins.

The film escapes the might of X-men: Days of Future Past, which surely would have cut into the box office in a big way. Right now it doesn't have any competition, except against the might of critics who have already deemed the new trilogy inferior. Shame on you all.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens this year on December 13th.
