Morgan Freeman joins Wally Pfister's 'Transcendence'

While all of the attention of late has focused on the talent Christopher Nolan is pulling together for Interstellar, his longtime DP Wally Pfister isn't doing too bad of a job with his directorial debut. Already having lined up Rebecca Hall, Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, and Paul Bettany for Transcendence, he's now adding The Dark Knight trilogy mainstay, Morgan Freeman.

Nolan is helping his old friend out by producing the film, so of course details are largely under wraps. That means we don't know how Freeman fits into the story, which follows a scientist who uploads his brain into a supercomputer after he's been assassinated. The script by Jack Paglen turned up on the Black List, so there's every reason to think this has the potential to be something worth keeping an eye on.

Production on Transcendence begins next month for release on April 25th 2014.
