New posters for 'The Wolverine', 'The Hangover Part III', 'The Lone Ranger', and 'The Bling Ring'

What's the deal with Logan (Hugh Jackman) rockin' a sword in the new poster for The Wolverine?  Shouldn't a guy with an adamantium-laced skeleton and claws to match already have more than enough weaponry at his disposal? The sword is possibly the Muramasa Blade, and judging by the duality hinted at in the image, it may retain the dark spirit of the man who forged it. Or it could just be a regular old sword and nothing more than that. It's tough to tell which elements of Logan's many adventures in Japan will be folded into James Mangold's film, which is loosely based on the cherished work of writer Chris Claremont. Separated from his X-men, Logan finds himself in a life-or-death battle against a samurai foe strong enough to put his vaunted immortality to the test. The Wolverine opens on July 26th.

This week has pretty much been owned by The Hangover Part III, with a slew of character posters emerging each day leading up to yesterday's hilarious new trailer. But the marketing machine rolls on, and Warner Bros. has dropped another poster featuring The Wolfpack (minus Justin Bartha who never gets any love) all decked out for a night out on the town. Weep for Vegas now.  John Goodman plays the heel, who forces the guys to find Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) after he steals $21M.  The Hangover Part III is directed by Todd Phillips and opens on May 24th.

Disney has also been working hard to make sure you don't forget about The Lone Ranger, while reminding you that Johnny Depp isn't the only person in it. This week has seen four character one-sheets designed as "wanted posters", and the latest features William Fichtner as Butch Cavendish. Besides a desperate need for dental work, he's described as "A ruthless outlaw whose terribly scarred face is a perfect reflection of the bottomless pit that passes for his soul." The Lone ranger rides into theaters on July 3rd.

Hmmm...there's something awfully shady about the way Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring is being marketed. Ok, bad pun aside, one would expect stylish posters to go along with the stylish film that explores our culture's celebrity obsession. Based on a true story, Emma Watson leads a gang of spoiled Beverly Hills youngsters who rob the homes of their celebrity neighbors. Their victims have ranged from Orlando Bloom to Paris Hilton, the latter feeling good enough about it to make a cameo in the film. Presumably as herself, otherwise it would be a little weird. Also starring Leslie Mann, Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga, and Gavin Rossdale, The Bling Ring arrives on June 14th.
