Marton Csokas will battle Denzel Washington in 'The Equalizer'
After appearing in a number of those really lousy, inexplicably popular syndicated adventure shows like Xena: Warrior Princess, Beastmaster, Farscape, and the hilariously awful Cleopatra 2525, Marton Csokas' perseverance eventually paid off. Cast as Celeborn in The Lord of the Rings, he's since gone on to co-star with Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux, and voice a character in Attack of the Clones, but he was truly excellent in 2011's The Debt opposite Sam Worthington and Jessica Chastain. Now he's set to go toe-to-toe with Denzel Washington in The Equalizer.
Sony's remake of the 1980s TV series features Washington in the role made famous by Edward Woodward, that of Robert McCall, an ex-Black Ops agent attempting to atone for a dark past. In this version directed by Antoine Fuqua, McCall's quiet life is interrupted after an act of kindness towards a prostitute gets him involved with the Russian mob. Chloe Moretz is set for the pro, while Csokas will play a vicious fixer for the mob.
Add this to what's shaping up to be a major year for Csokas, as he's currently filming a role as Dr. Kafka in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and will play Damien Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. He's currently starring in the DirecTV series Rogue alongside Thandie Newton. [THR]
