'Metallica Through the Never' trailer drops, and it's a weird one
Like, a really weird one. I have to be honest and say that I somewhat lost my respect for Metallica years ago during their crusade against Napster, if only because they seemed so smug and self-righteous and terrible during the whole thing. But we're years removed from that now, and sure, I'll blast Metallica really loudly in the car because they are, weirdly, a great sing-along band. And anyway, am I even the targeted demographic for their upcoming tour film, Metallica Through the Never? Probably not.
Because, how do I put this even more bluntly: Metallica Through the Never seems super bizarre. It seems structured like half concert footage, half narrative, with one of my favorite people in the world Dane DeHaan (of The Place Beyond the Pines, Lawless, Chronicle, and my daydreams) starring as a crew member for the band who somehow ends up in the middle of a revolution or uprising or riot or something while on the way to the concert? And then he has to battle fascist cops or masked rioters or ... something? I don't know, I don't get it. I just want to stare at Dane DeHaan in a hoodie; IS THAT SO WRONG?
For this trailer that I just can't figure out, click through; you might have better luck than I did. Metallica Through the Never comes out on September 27, 2013.
