Sure Shots: Christoph Waltz; Drew Pearce; Chelsea Handler

* Stephen Gaghan's new crime drama Candy Store already has a pretty sweet cast with Jason Clarke, Omar Sy, and Robert De Niro on board, and now the latest addition is someone who was first rumored last summer. Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz has officially signed on to the film, which follows an ex-covert agent who discovers the international crime organization he used to fight against has now set up shop in his new neighborhood. Waltz will play a 'Cold War consigliere posing as a typical American suburbanite.'[Deadline]

* After co-writing Iron Man 3 to fairly obvious box office success, Drew Pearce is tackling yet another blockbuster franchise. He'll take a pen to Mission: Impossible 5, which Tom Cruise recently signed on to star and produce There are no plot details available yet, and it remains to be seen who from Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol will return. Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) has been circling the directing job for awhile, and according to THR is still in negotiations.  Pearce also has a script for Marvel's Runaways in the can, and hopefully we'll learn more about that soon.

* Late night comedy queen Chelsea Handler has joined Blended, the new romantic comedy re-teaming Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, and The Wedding Singer director Frank Coraci. Handler will play the best friend to Barrymore's character, a mother who after a disastrous blind date with Sandler's character, finds herself stuck on a resort with him and all of their kids from previous marriages. Blended is slated to open on May 23rd 2014.
