Vin Diesel reveals where 'Fast & Furious 7' will take place

Remember when The Fast and the Furious was just about the Los Angeles underground street racing scene? That all changed beginning with the arrival of franchise director Justin Lin, who helped send Vin Diesel and his crew on globe-hopping adventures beginning with 2006's 'Tokyo Drift'. Since then they've been to Panama City, Rio, Spain, and London, and it looks like Fast & Furious 7 is going to take them someplace they've already been. Well....sort of.

Fast & Furious 6 spoilers below, so just beware....

Digital Spy caught up with Diesel to hype the latest film, and in the process he revealed the locations for Fast & Furious 7....

Diesel: “We have a stint in Tokyo and there is the Middle East next, that could be interesting."

So here's where things can maybe get a little confusing. While the audience has seen a film take place in Tokyo before, it's actually the first time Dom, Brian (Paul Walker), and the crew will be there. How can that be when we know Dom turns up at the end of 'Tokyo Drift', which was the third film in the franchise? That's because it technically takes place after the fourth, fifth, and sixth movies. That explains how Han (Sung Kang) can be alive during those, when he dies at the end of 'Tokyo Drift'. The ending of the sixth film sets up a brand new villain and gives them a pretty darn good reason to head off to Tokyo looking for revenge. Does that mean they'll run into Bow-Wow and his Hulk-inspired muscle car? Lord let's hope not.

Fast & Furious 6 opens next week. James Wan takes over for Lin on Fast & Furious 7, which arrives July 11th 2014.
