'Veronica Mars' Movie Brings Back Krysten Ritter and Ryan Hansen
What made Veronica Mars one of my favorite shows at the time it aired didn't have so much to do with Kristen Bell, although that was part of it. It was the supporting cast and the fully-realized characters that made up the town of Neptune. For me, Rob Thomas' Kickstarter-funded movie wouldn't be worth a thing if certain ones didn't return, and so far he's done a good job of luring back as many of the most important ones as possible. As filming officially got underway today, Thomas has brought back two of the show's most popular characters, who also happen to be personal favorites.
Krysten Ritter, who played the ditzy transfer student and stalking victim Gia Goodman, took to Twitter to excitedly announce that she would be joining the film...
"G-G-G-Gia!!!! I'm thrilled to be reprising my role of Gia Goodman in the Veronica Mars movie!!! It's gonna be very juicy Marshmallows!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!! Forgive my over-use of exclamation points. Since you can't hear me squealing, I'm reduced to excessive punctuation. Ha!"
It's the capper to a pretty big week for Ritter as she recently joined Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz in Tim Burton's biopic, Big Eyes.
When Thomas and Bell first launched their Kickstarter page, it was show co-star Ryan Hansen who was there in the opening video, having broken into her house and made himself a little comfortable. So in a way it almost makes perfect sense that he'd be the last new addition to the cast, returning to play shallow rich kid and constant irritant, Dick Casablancas. Hansen and Thomas also worked together on the Party Down, so it's good to see them together again. Hansen made the announcement in pretty spectacular fashion in this awesome YouTube video....
