Morgan Freeman Joins 'Lucy'; Brooklyn Decker Will 'Stretch'; Jim Beaver Scales 'Crimson Peak'
* Back in April we learned Luc Besson would be bringing another ass-kicking heroine to the big screen in the sci-fi film Lucy, and his leading lady would be none other than Scarlett Johansson. She'll play a drug mule, only to have the drug enter her body and grant the powers of clairvoyance, telekinesis, instant knowledge absorption, and resistance to pain. The latest to join the cast is Morgan Freeman, who plays “a professor well-versed in evolution and the capabilities of the human brain who Lucy is on a mission to find before she dies.” With any other cast this would sound pretty terrible, but Besson, Johansson, and Freeman is a solid combo. * Brooklyn "Incredible Rack" Decker has joined Stretch, the indie action comedy from Joe Carnahan that stars Chris Pine, Patrick Wilson, and Ed Helms. Wilson leads the film as a limo driver nicknamed Stretch, who tries to pay off an old debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire (Pine) trying to sell off his ledger of criminal associates. Decker would play Wilson's materialistic ex-girlfriend, who is engaged to marry another man. [The Wrap]
* Ok, so the name Jim Beaver sounds like either a cartoon character or a porn name, but I promise you it's not....to the best of my knowledge. Beaver is best known for playing Whitney Ellsworth on HBO's Deadwood, and now he's joined the cast of Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak. The Gothic horror/ghost story stars Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Benedict Cumberbatch, and possibly Mia Wasikowska and follows a wife who discovers that her new husband isn't what he appears to be.
