First Trailer for Guerrilla Disney World Horror 'Escape From Tomorrow'
No film caused quite the uproar at this past Sundance quite like Randy Moore's Escape from Tomorrow. The stir was due to the fact that Moore shot the film, quite without Disney's permission, guerrilla-style at the Walt Disney World theme park and used a number of their intellectual properties while doing it. It probably wouldn't have been quite as much of a big deal to them if it were a documentary on the awesomeness of Mickey Mouse, but it's not. Instead, it's a disturbing psycho-horror that plainly suggests things aren't quite so cheery behind all of the smiles, costumes, and princess castles.
While it seemed like a ripe target for a legal response from Disney, which would all but guarantee the film would never see a theatrical release, that hasn't turned out to be the case at all. And so we have the first trailer, and not only are Disney characters put front and center, they seem to be right in the middle of some truly creepy goings-on at the park. The story centers on a recently unemployed father whose trip to Disney World with his kids takes a sinister turn as he begins to see beyond the cheerful facade and the reality of something much darker.
Despite all of the hyperbolic response to it out of Sundance, many of the quotes turning up in this trailer, response to the film itself was mixed. We'll have a chance to experience it for ourselves on October 11th when it hits theaters and VOD. Check out the trailer below, followed by a clip from earlier this year.
