Kurt Russell Takes One Last Job in Trailer for Heist Flick 'The Art of the Steal'

The "one last job" subgenre of heist films is one of Hollywood's most reliable, and it's not likely to end any time soon. We've seen plenty of attempts to add a twist to the formula, but why mess with what has never really been broken? The new Canadien crime flick The Art of the Steal (don't confuse it with the amazing art world doc from 2009) certainly isn't attempting anything new, but with a cast that includes Kurt Russell, Jay Baruchel, Terence Stamp, Matt Dillon, and Katheryn Winnick,, it doesn't really have to.

Jason Sobol wrote and directed the film which has Russell as the colorfully-named Crunch Calhoun, a sub par motorcycle daredevil and somewhat reformed art thief, who also happens to be a great wheelman. After being released from prison, he agrees to take on one last lucrative job alongside his brother, son, an art forger, and a veteran thief. Of course it doesn't go as planned, otherwise there wouldn't be much of a movie, would there? Stylistically this looks a lot like 2003' con man film, Confidence, and it looks like there will be just as many twists and shady types.

The Art of the Steal will make its debut at TIFF before opening in Canada on September 20th. If it does well at the festival maybe we'll start to hear about a U.S. date.
