Lovely Trailer and Images for Jean-Pierre Jenuet's 'The Young and Prodigious Spivet'

Nobody remembers Jean-Pierre Jenuet as the director of Alien Resurrection, probably the most obscure film in the classic sci-fi franchise. The imaginative French filmmaker will probably always be best remembered for introducing Audrey Tautou to the world in Amelie. Now he's back with another film that looks just as visually mesmerizing and magical in The Young and Prodigious Spivet, based on Reif Larson's novel The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet.

Looking like a charming heartwarmer, the film stars Kyle Catlett (the son on The Following) as a brilliant young inventor who wins a contest to visit the Smithsonian. Packing up his things, he leaves his quirky family's ranch and heads on a cross-country journey to Washington, D.C., meeting strange characters and learning life lessons the whole way. Helena Bonham Carter co-stars, along with Judy Davis, Niamh Wilson, and Callum Keith Rennie.

France will get an IMAX release on October 16th, but we may be waiting until 2014 for The Young and Prodigious Spivet to land stateside. [Twitch]
