Could Wonder Woman Appear in 'Superman vs. Batman'?

Rumors have been spreading for some time that Wonder Woman could be making an appearance in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, which hopefully will have a better title than Batman vs. Superman or Superman vs. Batman, whatever. It began with a casting call for a tall physically fit actress, and grew when a Warner Bros. exec said the Amazonian princess was a top priority for the studio. When a well-received fan trailer for a Wonder Woman solo film hit the web recently it was just icing on the cake. Now the rumors have been addressed again by WB president Greg Silverman, and he does a pretty good job of talking a lot without actually saying much.

Variety caught up with him and asked whether we can expect other DC Comics heroes to turn up in the film, possibly as a lead-in to the expected Justice League movie...

Silverman: “We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them. Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it’s a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero.”

His focus on Wonder Woman led to his being asked specifically about her making a cameo, to which Silverman gave a great non-answer...

Silverman:  "We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that's respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can. So everything that has been speculated are things that we've thought about."

Basically everything has been considered and nothing can be revealed, at least not yet. What he can talk about is the decision to cast Ben Affleck as Batman, and as expected he believes they made the right choice regardless of what many vocal critics have said about it....

Silverman: "We knew going in that we had more information than the general public had. We knew what the take of the movie was, we knew what the character was going to be. We don't take these decisions lightly. We thought about everybody — brand new people, established people. Ben is the perfect guy to play this role."

It almost sounds like David Goyer wrote the script with Affleck in mind. I'm of the thought that this film has been in the works far longer than many know, which is why we've already had Snyder shooting scenes over the weekend in Los Angeles at a football game. The footage will be for a game between the fictional Gotham City University and Metropolis State University. You can check out a video of that below, followed by a look at the teams' jerseys.
