Typical of the legendary filmmaker, Woody Allen has kept details on his latest Euro romantic comedy a secret, but we do know a few things about it. The film shot in France over the summer, and Allen has assembled another terrific ensemble led by Emma Stone, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, Eileen Atkins, Jacki Weaver, and Hamish Linklater. And now we can add two major aspects we didn't know before: the title, and that it's a period piece.
The first images have been released from the newly-titled Magic in the Moonlight, giving us a look at Stone, Harden, and Firth in outfits that are definitely of a bygone era. So either this is a period tale or it's an Austenland-esque story about guests of a vintage vacation getaway. Eh, probably not, but you never know since Allen has been especially fanciful with his European-set films.
No release date has been set but if it follows the usual plan we can expect Magic in the Moonlight to arrive next summer.[THR]
