Judy Greer Joins 'Men, Women, & Children'; 'London Fields' Snags Johnny Depp; Katherine Heigl in 'Jenny's Wedding'

* So the Carrie remake didn't really pan out as expected, but it wasn't because of anything Judy Greer did wrong. She's great whether going for laughs or tugging at our heartstrings, and for her next role she'll probably get to do both. Greer has joined the cast of Jason Reitman's Men, Women, and Children, about junior high students and their dysfunctional parents coping with the digital age. Cameron Diaz, Adam Sandler, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jennifer Garner are already on board, with Greer playing a mom who posts racy photos of her daughter online. There could be a scheduling conflict as Greer is set to star opposite Nat Faxon in a pilot for an FX series, but deals are being made that should free her up for both. [TheWrap]

* Hey, isn't Johnny Depp supposedly dating my girl Amber Heard? Maybe that has something to do with the news he'll be making a cameo in London Fields, the long-gestating adaptation of Martin Amis' mystery novel? Depp joins Heard, Jim Sturgess, Theo James, and Billy Bob Thornton in the crime story about a sexy femme fatale whose orchestrating of her own death ensnares a number of men. Matthew Cullen is making his directorial debut and he's probably thanking his lucky stars to land someone like Depp even for just a tiny role. [THR]

* Haven't we seen enough of Katherine Heigl in wedding movies? Apparently someone thinks at least one more is a really great idea. She'll join Tom Wilkinson, Grace Gummer, and Linda Emond in Jenny's Wedding, the debut by writer/director Mary Agnes Donoghue. Heigl will play the title character, a woman who throws her conventional family into upheaval when she decides to get married. They don't particularly like her choice in partners, either. Think it's a woman? Filming is already underway so look for this one next year.
