Marvel Expanding TV Presence with Four New Series and A Miniseries
Now that Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is a bonafide hit and has been picked up for a full season order (no surprise there), the studio has already begun looking for ways to expand their influence on the small screen. Recently we learned of plans of an Agent Carter spinoff, based on the popular Captain America: The First Avenger character, but that may be just the tip of the iceberg. A report from Deadline says Marvel are quietly shopping a package of 60 episodes, to include four dramatic series and one mini-series, to cable distributors and VOD services.
Specific details are being held at the highest levels of Marvel secrecy, but an initial order of 60 episodes is practically non-existent in this business, especially for VOD and cable. Amazon, WGN America, and Netflix are said to be the likely candidates to strike this sort of deal because it would give them basically a full slate of programming and make them an integral piece of the popular Marvel machine. It wouldn't be surprising if there was some level of crossover between the five series, as well.
So what Marvel properties do you think deserve their own TV series?
