Callan McAuliffe Joins 'Hacker'; Sam Worthington Flies 'Paper Planes'; Dan Stevens in 'Night at the Museum 3'
* Everything's' coming up roses for fast-rising Aussie actor Callan McAuliffe. The 18-year-old recently played the younger Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, and he's set to star in manga adaptation Kite, which is ringing up big bucks at the American Film Market right now. Now he'll join Lorraine Nicholson (Soul Surfer) in Hacker, an indie from director Akan Satayez. McAuliffe will play Alex Danyiuk, an "ambitious teen techhead member of the secret Internet criminal network known as DarkWeb." [Deadline]
* Sorry, Sam Worthington, but the next Terminator film is moving on without you, better move on to something less actiony. He's joined the cast of the currently filming Paper Planes, joining Anthony LaPaglia and Ed Oxenbould in the Robert Connolly-directed story of "11-year old Dylan (Oxenbould), who is brought up by his father (Worthington) in a remote town in country Australia. Dylan’s life changes when he wins a place in the regional Paper Plane Championships in Sydney. Battling nerves and his nemesis, private schoolboy Jason (Nicholas Bakopoulos), for a spot at the World Championships in Japan, his greatest challenge seems himself. Wisdom arrives from a most unlikely source when he meets Kimi (Ena Imai), the junior Japanese champion." Eric Bana throws his name into the mix as one of the 3D film's producers.
* Dan Stevens continues to make the most of his post-Downton Abbey career. He'll suit up to play Lancelot in Night at the Museum 3, which is really happening ya'll. Sorry. Shawn Levy is directing yet again, with Ben Stiller back to hang out with living museum exhibits, one of which includes the returning Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt. As far as plot details go, it's everything you've seen before, only set in London.
